#UnsichtbaresLeid

When I was approached by C3 Creative Code and Content to join them in creating an awareness campaign for Angriff auf die Seele e.V. I got really excited! The main goal of the campaign is bringing attention to the impact of deployment-related trauma on soldiers and their loved-ones. And also pointing out the help offered by the Bundeswehr.

The project consists of three films. Each focusing on a different aspect: film one is about the effect on families and partners, film two about the impact on the soldiers themselves and film three switches to the perspective of a therapist who is helping in recovery. All films are based on interviews with real people and their experiences!

It was very rewarding to contribute to such a meaningful project that hopefully has some real and positive impact on people’s lives.

Update, June 2024: The campaign #UnsichtbaresLeid received the German Brand Award 2024 in the category Non-Governmental Organizations & Public Affairs.

Look Development

I was involved in the project right from the start so I could contribute to conception with extended R&D and Look Development. One of the challenges was the scope of the project: 3 films each between 2 and 3 minutes duration. During conception I had to take that into account and come up with approaches that could be scaled while still keeping production time in mind.

Work in Progress

  • Grainy monochrom 3d render of a supermarket parking lot.
  • Process frame: cinema 4d viewport showing graphic errors over the scene of a group of people.
  • Look development frame: low key grainy 3d render of a woman and a kid holding hands.
  • Look development frame: high key distorted 3d render of a soldier.
  • Look development frame: distorted 3d render of a tank.

Process

Once we got the concept and the look approved I blocked all scenes in a 3D Storyboard which we developed into the animatic. This was the base for setting up the final scenes. After adding lights, textures and animation everything was ready for rendering and final compositing.

  • Screenshot showing storyboard images in photoshaop for the project.
  • Photo of two pages of scribbled storyboard drawings on a wall.
  • Photo of a wall full of scribbled storyboard drawings.
  • Figma screenshot showing the moodboard for the project. Images arranged in various groups.
